Working at London Fashion Week is a whirlwind of glamour, hard work and some fabulous parties. Out front, the girls glide down the catwalks looking serene and flawless. Backstage, it can be pandemonium. Fashion Shows run back to back, from early morning to late at night, often starting hours later than scheduled as the magazine editors and models race across London from one venue to the next. The editors may arrive looking immaculate but the models can show up with their hair and make up from the previous show still in place!
The styles that are created during fashion week pay no heed to the natural texture or style of the model's hair; the models are picked for their looks, their walk or maybe their notoriety but not their hair. That means I have to come fully prepared for all hair types and all eventualities - my kit bag is the key, it holds a mixture of heated appliances, brushes, combs and accessories which are the tools I need to create beautiful catwalk hair.
